Brock Thornton (Boogie T), a Lafayette, Louisiana native, discovered his musical talent at an early age. At the age of six, he began playing the piano. At eight, he picked up the guitar. By the time he was fourteen, he was giving guitar lessons. Brock's grandmother purchased his first recording program when he was just eleven years old, and he soon began producing and recording his own acoustic instruments and vocals. Brock has had a musical gift from a young age, it is no surprise that his fan base grew so rapidly once he began releasing his own music.

Boogie T released his debut EP, Soul'd Out, on Ganja White Night's label Subcarbon Records in 2017, earning millions of streams and a top 10 position on the iTunes Electronic Album chart. In 2018, he launched his own record label, Drama Club, to offer his fans his own unique music and to sign tracks by his favorite upcoming artists.

His multifaceted talent from singing, rapping, playing the guitar, producing swampy dubstep makes him an artist/ producer like no other. His swampy sound reminds you of the bayou and makes you want to get down and boogie down. His sound is so unique to him, you know a Boogie T track when you hear it. Not many producers can curate such a distinctive sound that you can just know it is their music. Playing guitar and piano, as well as adding his own vocals to tracks, all contribute to his unique sound.

His music inspires you to move, groove, and get dirty and grimy with the swampy rhythm. By pushing the boundaries of what EDM music “should” sound like, Brock was able to establish his own style within the dubstep community, as evident by one of my all-time favorite tracks, Raven Master.

This Saturday, we'll be treated to a special sunset performance by Boogie T's live band, Boogie T. Rio, featuring Andrew 'Yano' Yanoski on keys and Frank 'Animal Drums' Castro on percussion. If you have never heard or seen them, you are in for some funky music you want to groove to. As the sun sets, you can hear Boogie sing live and shred the guitar. Mind a Racin' will play over and over in your head for days.

Along with his musical ability, Boogie has an unrivaled stage presence. His enthusiasm alone could entice someone who has never listened to dubstep or riddim to vibe to the music. From the brief time I got to meet him, he was high spirited, wanted to talk and connect with all his fans, and is one of the funniest people out there.

His kendama skills are insane, and if we're lucky enough, he'll do a whirlwind during his set.
